1) Gossip
2) "Emotional News"
3) Entertainment news channels compete furiously every day over readers and what it often comes down to is who has the most interesting, shocking and emotionally engaging news stories. Imagine if someone sorted all these news stories by their readers emotional response. We would like to present Gossip, a news aggregator that does exactly that. With new technology monitoring readers heart rates and facial expressions Gossip will automatically sort all news stories from low to high emotional response and will thus be able to provide Gossip-readers with the most interesting, shocking and emotionally engaging news stories every day.

Future of Ads - Extra hand in
Name: Future of Ads
Small picture:
Tagline: Not intrusive but exclusive
Summary:
In a future where people’s emotional states can be accurately measured and predicted, advertising shifts from being an irrelevant or annoying occurrence in people’s everyday lives, to becoming a highly desirable product. New ways of collecting and using data as well as technological advancements within the field of augmented reality will allow for almost perfect tailoring and serendipitous matching of advertisements to the consumers in the future. Ads can be completely tailored for the moment based on data collected from everything that the consumer sees, does and feels as well as from many external sources. The huge set of data is analyzed and unforeseeable connections are made, making it possible to offer products that the consumers need and are able to obtain in a particular moment, without them knowing it in the first place.

Future of Ads - weekly report
What we have done
This week we have looked into new sources of data as well as new ways of collecting data in order to tailor ads better in the future and achieve a serendipity effect. We focused on exploring the possibilities of measuring and predicting a user’s emotional state through physiological indicators including pupil dilation, heart rate, facial behavior and brain waves. The first step was to find out whether these indicators could be used to measure a user’s emotions. The second step was to find technologies which can be used to perform these measurements. We also looked into different technological solutions for augmented reality. For this purpose we contacted 13th Lab, which is a small startup that operate within the field of augmented reality. What we will do
Our next step should be to continue our research on the areas presented above. We should also look into technologies for gathering data from the surroundings of the user such as image recognition technologies and big data technologies. In order for the emotional responses to be put into context it is important that the emotional data is matched with other data such as image processing data and all kinds of third party data. After this we should start looking into more specifically how the data and the technologies can be used to in order to tailor ads, achieve serendipity and create an augmented reality experience. Also, we will put together our main ideas and focus into a story board for a short video demonstration.Resonsive News: Weekly upd AND Hand in

What we have done.
We have had a meeting where we discussed the possibilities for a research study. Our graphical profile has also been discussed.Furthermore we have been discussing different slogans and names for our project. At first we tried to use a slogan generator but that didnt create any good results.
What we will do.
We are looking into doing a research study where we set up a hotspot at a place where there is a lot of commuting people (maybe Centralstationen). This way, we can monitor users of the hotspot and see what kind of content they look for. Hopefully news. We might also do a comparison at a place where people don’t commute, a cafĂ© or similar, and see if there is a difference in type of content. Hopefully less news.We also want to find more literature that supports our study.
Problems encountered.
At first we thought about using Marshall McLuhan’s The Medium is the Message, but we have come to realize that this book might rather be a counter-argument for our project. As far as we have understood, McLuhan proposes that the medium changes the message, but we strive to create a solution where the same message is delivered to the consumer no matter which medium is used. McLuhan’s text can however be used to present counter-arguments.

Imagine a newscast that changes according to your needs. No more straining your eyes trying to read news on a bumpy bus ride. No more trying to hear what the news cast is saying in a loud environment. This is our future. This is responsive news.
ScreenWorld - Rise of the Second Screen
“Breaking into the future.”
The
increase in mobile technologies and decrease in attention spans has caused new
habits to form when people consume their media. One screen is no longer enough,
so a second screen has emerged into our routine. The second screen trend is
gaining popularity in entertainment media, but what does that mean for news? We
hope to provide a framework based on qualitative and quantitative analysis of
the current trend on how to increase the use of the second screen for news in
the future.
Weekly update - Future of Second Screen
What we have
done
On the proccess...................
Group name
ScreenWorld
During the last week we kept
on working on the finalization of our idea. The feedback we got from Malin and
Daniel helped us clear the air and understand the direction we should move
towards. Among other things, we tried to establish a theoretical background
through academic research, we conducted a questionnaire for future interviews, we
created our project’s personas and last but not least we are waiting feedback
from significant individuals in the field.
What we will
do
During next week, we are
planning to conduct interviews; both qualitative and quantitative. This will be
followed by a rough first analysis so as to have some data for the mid-term
presentation on Friday. What we aim for in the end is to propose ways for the
enhancement of second screen’s role into the future of news with a focus on Breaking
News.
Problems
encountered
We came across a number of
issues trying to define what our path will be. This led to some discussions
reevaluating what our project plan was. In the end, we feel secured in our idea
and feel good about continuing on.
Changes in
the project
There were no major changes in
our project, just a more clearly defined path.

Newsify - Status Report w.44
Group name:
For now we have just set it to Newsify as a placeholder, so this could change in the future.
What have we done:
Not much since people have been away so the group have not been able to meet up and discuss the project until today (Friday 1st of Nov). Much of this is because of the examperiod that we just had, so hopefully things will work out better during next week.
What will we do:
During next week we will start taking contact with the industry. We will also begin working on questions for a focus group meeting that will be carried out one week from now. Based on this information we will then start working on the mid-crit presentation.
Problem:
One of our problems have been to define our target audience, after some discussion and thought we settled for people aged 18-30 as they are “game changers” for the industry in general.
Our biggest problem so far is getting everyone on site for each meeting. This is making it very difficult to progress with our work so we have agreed on meeting at least twice a week from now on.

We have not altered our project in any major way since last week since we have not worked on the project and the reason for that is TENTAPERIOD!
